Market Basket Executive Recognized for Business Leadership, Community Impact and Commitment to Hellenic Values

BOSTON, MA (September 3, 2026) – The Alpha Omega Council is proud to announce that Telemachus “T.A.” Demoulas will be honored with the Emerging Leader Award at the Alpha Omega Council’s Annual Honors Gala on Friday, October 2 as part of its 50th Anniversary Weekend taking place October 2-4, 2026.

Presented annually, the Emerging Leader Award recognizes an individual whose vision, leadership, integrity and dedication to community exemplify the next generation of Hellenic-American excellence. Demoulas is being recognized for his leadership within one of New England’s most respected family-owned businesses and for carrying forward a legacy rooted in hard work, philanthropy and service.

As a 4th-generation member of the Demoulas family, T.A. has helped continue the tradition of excellence established at Market Basket, a family-owned company renowned throughout New England for its commitment to associates, customers and the communities it serves.

“T.A. Demoulas represents the very best of the next generation of Greek-American leadership,” said Costa Speliakos, President-Elect of the Alpha Omega Council. “His commitment to family, business excellence, philanthropy and community reflects the values upon which the Alpha Omega Council was founded. We are honored to recognize his accomplishments and look forward to celebrating his continued impact for years to come.”

T.A. has worked at Market Basket since childhood, and since joining the company full-time in 2014, he has held key roles in the grocery and real estate departments. Most recently, T.A. led the grocery buying team. Through his leadership, community engagement and dedication to preserving the company’s family-first values, he has emerged as one of the region’s most respected young business leaders.

“It is a privilege to serve my family business and to help to uphold the culture of excellent customer service and great value established by my great-grandfather and grandfather,” said Telemachus “T.A.” Demoulas, Grocery Executive of Market Basket. “I’m proud of the contributions my family has made over many generations, and I look forward to continuing that legacy.”

Market Basket was founded in 1917 in Lowell, MA by T.A.’s great-grandparents, Athanasios and Efrosini Demoulas who both emigrated from Kalambaka, Greece. Over four generations, Market Basket has grown from a single store selling lamb and vegetables to one of the largest and most highly regarded grocery chains in New England. Market Basket was led by T.A’s grandfather, Telemachus Demoulas and his father, Arthur T. Demoulas for many decades. The Demoulas family are parishioners of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, Massachusetts.

The presentation of the 2026 Founders Award to T.A. Demoulas will take place during the Alpha Omega Council’s 50th Anniversary Honors Gala on Friday, October 2nd at the historic Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston, where members of the Greek-American community will gather to celebrate five decades of the Alpha Omega Council while recognizing distinguished individuals whose professional achievements, philanthropic leadership and commitment to Hellenism have made a lasting impact. The 2026 Founders Award to T.A. Demoulas will be presented alongside the 2026 Founders’ Award to Nancy Agris Savage and the 2026 Philhellene Award to Boston University.

The 50th Anniversary Weekend will also feature a Konstantinos Argiros Concert at Agganis Arena on Saturday, October 3rd and the Alpha Omega Council Leadership Luncheon at Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church in Watertown on Sunday, October 4th.
