Co-sponsored by the Center for Hellenic Studies and the Classics Department (Swift Hall Lecture Room, 3^rd floor). This will be an in-person event.

University of Chicago faculty will present different perspectives on Homer’s Odyssey, showing how readers in different cultures, from ancient to modern times, used the poem to address contemporary concerns, creatively adapting the story of Odysseus. Participants will include Jonathan Hall, Shadi Bartsch, Anthony Kaldellis, Patrice Rankine, and Carolina López-Ruiz. Their roundtable discussion will be followed by a Q&A with the audience. All are welcome, no Greek required! ~ A reception with wine and snacks will follow the discussion. No registration needed. See the attached flyer and the event’s details here.
