Fast-Fine Greek Concept Celebrates with Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and $5 Gyros for First 100 Guests
NORTHVALE, NJ (April 23, 2026) – The Gyro Project, a fast-fine Greek restaurant bringing authentic street food flavors to a modern setting, opened its eighth overall location on Thursday, April 23 at 269 Livingston Street in Northvale, New Jersey. The opening marks the brand’s continued expansion across the Tri-State area and reinforces its growing presence in Bergen County.
To celebrate the Northvale debut, The Gyro Project hosted an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, April 22nd with The Gyro Project co-owners George Tenedios and Spiro Kokkosis and Northvale Mayor Joseph E. McGuire, amongst others. Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, family, friends and the local Northvale community indulged in gyros, froyo, live Greek music, dancing and a traditional plate breaking experience. Today, Thursday, April 23rd, The Gyro Project will celebrate its grand opening day by offering $5 gyros to the first 100 in-store guests beginning at 5pm.
The new Northvale restaurant spans approximately 2,500 square feet and will feature seating for 50 guests, offering a welcoming dine-in experience alongside takeout service. The menu will mirror the popular offerings from the flagship Fort Lee, New Jersey location, offering fan-favorite items such as classic gyro pita wraps (chicken, pork, and beef/lamb), hearty platters served with rice, salad, and pita, traditional mezedes like tzatziki and hummus, loaded Greek fries, and the brand’s signature Greek frozen yogurt.

Founded by childhood friends and restaurateurs George Tenedios and Spiro Kokkosis, The Gyro Project was created to fill a void for high-quality Greek cuisine in New York and New Jersey. Since debuting its first location in Fort Lee, NJ in July 2023, the brand has built a loyal following for its signature pita wraps, mixed grill platters, mezedes, specialty fries, and Greek froyo – all rooted in authentic recipes and bold Mediterranean flavors.
“We’re excited to continue growing in New Jersey and bring The Gyro Project experience to Northvale,” said George Tenedios, co-owner of The Gyro Project. “New Jersey is where it all began for us, so returning to our flagship state and expanding here in Bergen County feels especially meaningful. We look forward to serving both new guests and our loyal fans in the area.”
As the brand continues its rapid expansion, The Gyro Project remains committed to delivering high-quality Greek cuisine in a fast-casual format that blends tradition with a contemporary dining experience. The Northvale opening marks the brand’s 8th overall location since its original location opened in Fort Lee, NJ in July 2023. Recent openings also include: Murray Hill (February 2026), Garment District (November 2025), Midtown East (September 2025), Taverna by The Gyro Project at Hudson Yards (August 2025), Upper West Side (April 2025), and Junction at Gateway Center in Newark, NJ (March 2025). As the brand continues expanding across the Tri-State area, The Gyro Project’s 9th store location is slated to open on the Upper East Side (Summer 2026).
The Gyro Project is also dedicated to honoring the hard work of the Tri-State area healthcare heroes. In celebration of National Nurses Week, The Gyro Project is offering 10% off in-store orders for all nurses and hospital staff who show valid work credentials at any location from Wednesday, May 6th through Tuesday, May 12th, 2026.
The Gyro Project at 269 Livingston Street in Northvale, New Jersey will open on Thursday, April 23 at 5pm.
