Two Grandmothers, One Olive Oil

Alexandra Nicolakis grew up watching her Greek giagia reach for olive oil for everything: drizzled over dinner, worked into her hair, rubbed into her skin and nails. Then, at a Thanksgiving table in Florida, Alexandra heard the same story from someone she didn’t expect. Mike’s grandmother, a proud Italian-American, declared that the best olive oil in the world is Greek, and that she uses it in exactly the same ways.

Two grandmothers. Two cultures. One verdict.

There is just one problem: Mike’s grandmother can’t find Greek olive oil anywhere near her home in Florida, and in Los Angeles, Alexandra only found it only on the shelves of the priciest store in town. So Alexandra and Mike, decided to bring it over themselves.

That’s how GIAGIAS (ΓΙΑΓΙΑΣ, Greek for “grandmother’s”) was born.

One farm. One mill. Never blended.
GIAGIAS is a single-estate extra virgin olive oil from one farm in Lakonia, made from Athinolia olives, some picked from trees nearly a thousand years old. What makes it rare: the farmer also runs the mill. That almost never happens in Greece, and it’s why we can guarantee every drop comes from the same olives, with no mixing and no blending.

The 2026/27 harvest comes in a 400 ml copper-toned tin that blocks out light to protect the oil. It’s one oil for the kitchen, the bath, and everything in between, just like our grandmothers always knew.

Now launching on Kickstarter
We’ve already passed our $5,000 goal, which covers our first import duties. A single tin is $32, with bundles of 2 to 12 tins, shipping to US backers starting December 2026.

Bring giagia’s secret home.
