Fast-Fine Greek Concept to Celebrate with $5 Gyros for First 100 Guests and Introduce Popular Rotisserie Chicken to New York City
NEW YORK, NY (June 10, 2026) – The Gyro Project, a fast-fine Greek restaurant bringing authentic street food flavors to a modern setting, will officially open its ninth overall location and fifth Manhattan restaurant on Thursday, June 18th at 1260 Lexington Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The opening will mark another major milestone in the brand’s rapid expansion throughout New York City and the Tri-State area.
To celebrate the Upper East Side debut, The Gyro Project will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration on Wednesday, June 18, offering $5 gyros to the first 100 in-store guests beginning at 5pm.
The new Upper East Side restaurant will span approximately 1,800 square feet and feature seating for 30 guests, offering a welcoming dine-in experience alongside takeout and delivery service. The menu will include fan-favorite items such as classic gyro pita wraps (chicken, pork, and beef/lamb), hearty platters served with rice, salad and pita, traditional mezedes like tzatziki and hummus, loaded Greek fries, and the brand’s signature Greek frozen yogurt.
The Upper East Side location will also introduce The Gyro Project’s highly anticipated rotisserie chicken to New York City for the first time. Already a customer favorite at the brand’s flagship New Jersey location, the family-style rotisserie chicken serves approximately three to four people and offers guests a convenient, flavorful option for family dinners, group gatherings, and take-home meals.
Founded by childhood friends and restaurateurs George Tenedios and Spiro Kokkosis, The Gyro Project was created to fill a void for high-quality Greek cuisine in New York and New Jersey. Since debuting its first location in Fort Lee, New Jersey in July 2023, the brand has built a loyal following for its signature pita wraps, mixed grill platters, mezedes, specialty fries, and Greek froyo – all rooted in authentic recipes and bold Mediterranean flavors.
“We’re excited to bring The Gyro Project to the Upper East Side and continue expanding throughout New York City,” said George Tenedios, co-owner of The Gyro Project. “The neighborhood has such a strong sense of community, and we’re looking forward to introducing residents to our authentic Greek flavors while also debuting our popular rotisserie chicken in the city for the very first time.”
As the brand continues its rapid expansion, The Gyro Project remains committed to delivering high-quality Greek cuisine in a fast-casual format that blends tradition with a contemporary dining experience. The Upper East Side opening will mark the brand’s ninth overall location since its original store opened in Fort Lee, New Jersey in July 2023. Recent openings have included Northvale, NJ (April 2026), Murray Hill (February 2026), Garment District (November 2025), Midtown East (September 2025), Taverna by The Gyro Project at Hudson Yards (August 2025), Upper West Side (April 2025), and Junction at Gateway Center in Newark, NJ (March 2025).
The expansion is far from over. Later this year, The Gyro Project plans to open additional New York City locations in Union Square, Times Square, and Hell’s Kitchen as it continues to grow its footprint throughout Manhattan.
In celebration of the Summer Solstice, The Gyro Project will offer complimentary samples of its signature Greek frozen yogurt at all New York City locations on Sunday, June 21st beginning at 3pm to the first 100 guests, inviting guests to cool off and experience one of the brand’s most popular menu items.
The Gyro Project at 1260 Lexington Avenue in Manhattan will be open daily from 10am to 11pm, serving lunch and dinner. For more information, visit www.thegyroproject.com or follow @thegyroproject on social media.
